What counts as a lemon?
A vehicle with recurring, unfixable defects that significantly impair its use, value, or safety. We flag the patterns dealers don't always disclose — repeat recalls, complaint clusters, and production-run anomalies.
Where does the data come from?
Eight live U.S. government data sources, all from NHTSA and EPA: VIN decoder (vPIC), Recalls, Owner Complaints, Technical Service Bulletins, Manufacturer Communications, NCAP crash tests, Equipment Recalls, and EPA fuel economy. All public, all official, all free for us to query.
What's the Production Band algorithm?
Our patent-pending method that weighs lemon risk by where your car falls in its model's production run. Early units and end-of-run units carry different risk profiles than the bulk of the run.
How does pricing work?
3 basic scans per day are free with an email — you get the vehicle decode, score, and topline counts.
